Language Arts

 

We will be working on “Lassie Come-Home” and “Homer Price.”  We will be reviewing the end of November for our first quizzes in December.    We will be learning more about the subjects and predicates this week.  Then we will be starting a Friendly Letter. 

Our Spelling words for the short week are review.  Your child has been given a list.  (There were 4 students who have gotten 100% on all their tests – they will not have to take the review test.)  Then we will be working on prefixes.

WE will be starting lesson 12 in Latin.  This works with Plurals.

                      

Science and Geography

 

 

We will be reviewing plants.  Our test will be the last week in November, but I am not sure if it will be Tuesday or Wednesday.  Our next unit will be on the animal kingdom.

We will be learning about the wars and mining of Wisconsin.  We are starting North Africa, including Egypt and Sudan.   We will be reviewing the Great Lakes and Southwestern states and their capitals. 

 

MATH

We will be having our test before Thanksgiving.  Then we will be working on long division.  It is really important that we know our facts for this.

 


 

Religion

We will be going to Adoration on Monday.  We are learning about Jacob’s sons.  We will be doing a play about Joseph.

We will be going to Adoration on Monday.  We are learning about Jacob, or Israel, as he becomes.  We will be helping our preschool buddies with their mass this week.

We will be learning about the wars of Wisconsin.  We will be reviewing the Middle East countries for our final test.  We are starting to review states and their capitals.  This week we are working on the New England states.

We will be working with division and fractions.  We will be reviewing and having a test early this week.  Then we will be working on larger numbers with division.

I have given out some triangle multiplication/division cards to the students.  These are in the Friday Folder.  I am sending them with the children who struggle with their facts.  These cards work with division and multiplication.

 


 

Religion

We will not be going to Adoration on Monday because of a funeral.  We are learning about Isaac, or Israel, as he becomes.

Our final test on matter will be on Wednesday.  We will be learning about plants with our next unit.

We will be learning about the missionaries and mining of Wisconsin.  We will be reviewing the Rocky Mountain and Pacific states.  There will be a quiz on Friday in November (not next week). We are going to be having quizzes and tests on the Middle East.

 

MATH

We will be working with division and fractions.  This unit is mostly a review of facts.

I have given out some triangle multiplication/division cards to the students.  Please let me know if you need any for the home.  These cards are both multiplication and division and help learn the fact families.

 


 

Religion

We will be going to Adoration on Monday.  We are praying the Rosary in the classroom.  We are having a test on the first unit.  We will start learning about Isaac.

Language Arts

 

We will be reading “A Cricket in Times Square” together as a class.  This is a good book to start the year together because it teaches about friendship and virtues.  I will be assigning a monthly book report.  The first book should be a fiction book at your child’s reading level.  I am attaching a copy of the book report.  We will be working on our first writing project.  This will give me a sample of your child’s writing ability.  The writing project is a personal narrative. 

Our spelling unit works on irregular ways of spelling words.  For example, “kn” making the n sound and “ch” making the k sound.  The list is below.  Next week your child will also have Challenge or Review words.
