We will be reading “A Cricket in Times Square” together as a class.  This is a good book to start the year together because it teaches about friendship and virtues.  I will be assigning a monthly book report.  The first book should be a fiction book at your child’s reading level.  I am attaching a copy of the book report.  We will be working on our first writing project.  This will give me a sample of your child’s writing ability.  The writing project is a personal narrative.

Our spelling unit works on irregular ways of spelling words.  For example, “kn” making the n sound and “ch” making the k sound.  The list is below.  Next week your child will also have Challenge or Review words.
