Ongoing Franciscan Advantage Partnership Offers St. Ignatius Upperclassmen Opportunities to Earn College Credits
August 14, 2023
St. Ignatius Chesterton Academy will again offer the opportunity for St. Ignatius upperclassmen to earn college credits through the Franciscan Advantage Program during the 2023-24 school year.
Franciscan Advantage, now in its second year, is a partnership between Chesterton Schools Network (CSN) and Franciscan University of Steubenville, which allows students earn credit by taking designated high school courses that align with the university’s curriculum and successfully completing college-level examinations. This school year, St. Ignatius will offer Theology courses for juniors and seniors. Dr. Lisa Moore will again instruct these classes.
Credits can be counted toward completion of an undergraduate degree at Franciscan and may also be transferable to other colleges and universities. Students have access to Franciscan Life Online to help foster a vibrant sense of community amongst learners.
This collaboration was launched last school year to further serve the intellectual and spiritual needs of students, families, and communities, while simultaneously ensuring affordable Catholic education. St. Ignatius students were among the highest performing (based on mid-term and final tests average scores) students across the CSN.
Dr. Moore will be available on Supply Drop-Off Day for further information. At that time, we will have further information on the course details too. Students and families may also reach out to Dr. Moore any time with questions at lmoore@stignatiuskaukauna.org.
